Happy Mother’s Day! (Now that the giant stick is out of my ass)

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms—birth moms, stepmoms, adoptive moms, moms with angel babies, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, MILs, and aunts (is that everyone?). Every mom deserves thanks and expressions of appreciation, because we bust ours to take care of theirs! We do this at home, at work, at school, on the playground, at the ILs’, at the beach, you name it, we conquered it. We’ve done late night feedings, spit-ups, vomit, fevers, blowouts, boo-boos, tutoring, advice giving, lunch packing, school lunch money doling, carpooling, homeschooling, organizing, scheduling, event coordinating, cheer leading, PTO meetings, IEP meetings, parent teacher conferences, school plays, dance recitals, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports, prom, graduation, college, commencement, and given life to our kids so they may also come full circle. It makes you wish there were a medal for that.

My kids are too young to write me poems, make macaroni art, or create boondoggles (yes, that is a Napoleon Dynamite reference), but they are old enough to beam proudly at me, give kisses, and give hugs. A1 can even sit in my lap and say, “Hi, Mamama.” She is awesome. I am blessed, and so are you!
